"It was only after I took my first Yin Yoga class that I realised that I had too much Yang in my life. I was moving too fast, physically and mentally. I was constantly powered on, ready to go for the next challenge. The only time I sat still was when I was struck ill or sleeping, otherwise it was go go go. Does this sound familiar? If so, Yin Yoga could be exactly what you need."

Originally from Kildare, Abaigéal began her yoga journey after the sudden loss of her mother through suicide in 2007. She has experienced, first-hand, the transformative and healing power of yoga during her own life’s ups and downs.

In 2014, Abaigéal became an accredited Vinyasa Flow teacher after completing a 200-hour teacher training with Paula Mitten of Frog Lotus International and Durga.

It was during her time in Australia, where she lived from 2015-2018, that she discovered the magic of Yin Yoga. On her return to Ireland, she completed training in Yin Yoga with Josh Summers in 2018. More recently, she qualified to teach Pregnancy Yoga and Mum & Baby Yoga via the Elbowroom, Dublin, training under the guidance of renowned pregnancy yoga teacher Melissa Curtis.

She is available for private classes in Mayo and Roscommon.

Abaigéal is passionate about using yoga to help people to slow down and appreciate the beauty of their bodies. Her classes combine mindfulness and yoga in a fluid way. She brings a little poetry and philosophy into her classes while still allowing for plenty of quiet time.

When not on her mat, Abaigéal is a historian and poet. A selection of her poems are available on her Instagram account @poetrybyabaigeal.  She is currently working on her first book of poetry for publication.
